wow.....

I cannot believe it is already October! This year has just flown by! So much has happened! I don't know where to begin, so I'll start with school.....(just to get it over with.)

I found it very hard to adjust to the "college life." Which kind of surprised me. I'm still living at home, so it isn't like I have to deal with a "bad" room-mate (one of the girls I met at my orientation did, but it's all fixed now), and I'm only at the *Alumni University two days a week, (I was able to schedule all my classes on those days...yay!) But the work load, all the people (3 out of my 4 classes are held in auditoriums!), and additional things that would normally already have me stressed, just did me in! But God is good and with the help of my family, my sweet-heart: Steps, friends, and going to my professors with questions, I'm beginning to adjust a bit better.

-There were many Bible verses that I have come across during these first weeks in school. But the one that really stood out and encouraged me the most was: Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." So often I found myself asking God why He even wants me to go to college. To be honest, I don't know, I may not know for several years down the road, but I do know that it's what He wants.

Sorry, I just had to chase that rabbit that escaped from the cage. It's back now, safe and sound. :o)

On a different note, The Warrior just turned 12! I feel so old ! He is growing up way too fast. He is so funny! He always keeps us laughing....when he's around you just have to smile. It's a natural instinct. :o) His birthday was this past Monday. He is playing fall ball this year, and dad is coaching!

G.I. Joe is playing soccer for the first time! He's doing great. Unfortunately, I have yet to make it to one of his games... :o( Hopefully I'll be able to go to one soon though.

Next week my sisters and heading off to Panama with The Boss lady (our Aunt on our mom's side) for our cousin's wedding. Well, I'm actually not quite sure how we're related, but somehow we are related to the groom. I'll just call him our cousin 'till I find out for sure. :o)

Aside from all that, there really isn't too much going on. Well, I do have some (understatement of the century!) homework to do, so for now I will bid you all adieu!

Until next time.

Bored.

Well, I'm kinda bored at the moment, so I think I'll tell you what's been going on today.....

  • I woke up late this morning! I didn't get out of bed 'till about 8 o'clock!
  • After waking up late, I went downstairs and ate breakfast. I had blueberry bagels and chocolate milk.....yum!
  • I finished some stuff for my speech class.
  • Worked out with my sister, Soaring Amongst the Clouds.
  • Wahsed my bed sheets and pajamas.
  • I ate lunch with The Warrior.
  • Watched Home Improvement.... (very funny show! You should watch it sometime.)
  • Washed my comforter and pillow cases.
  • Took a shower.
  • Painted my toe-nails. (I even put little sticker flowers that are meant just for painted nails! I have to admit, my toes look very cute!)
  • Got ready to leave for the University. (Soaring Amongst the Clouds needed some textbooks, and we both wanted to find out where our classes were.)
  • Left for the University. 2:30p.m.
  • Arrived at the University. 3:20p.m. :o)
  • Purchased her text books.
  • Waited in the breezeway for the rain to stop coming down so hard so we could go back to the car to get our umbrella.
  • I volunteered to go get the umbrella while Soaring Amongst the Clouds waited. (What was I thinking?)
  • Went to get the umbrella. (I didn't get very wet at all! YAY!)
  • Found Soaring Amongst the Clouds in the breezeway.
  • Went to the Student Union to get a map. (I couldn't remember the name of the buildings where my classes were....oops.) :o)
  • Found the building on the map.
  • Went to the building where my first class is being held.
  • Struggled to find the second building.
  • Found the third building pretty easily.

By this time, it's already 5p.m., it is really pouring, and we're soaked from trying to share one umbrella while walking across the campus to find my classrooms.

  • Waited in the breezeway about twenty minutes before deciding to make a run for it to get to the building where her orientation was being held.
  • Got to the orientation room very easily.
  • It was still early, (her orientation didn't start 'till 6p.m., remember?) so we went and found all her classrooms.
  • We waited outside her orientation room for around fifteen minutes.
  • She went into orientation, and I braved the pouring rain to come to the Library.
  • I activated my Library card. (Which is just my university I.D. card. It just had to be activated before I could check anything out of the Library.)
  • Logged on to my facebook account.
  • Poked a few people on facebook.
  • Checked my mail.
  • Took another quiz for my speech class.
  • Read some articles from Fox News online.
  • Started this blog entry.

Well, I've got you all caught up! I'm currently still waiting for my sister to get out of orientation. I'm still very wet from the amount of rain water I've collected on the pant-legs of my jeans, and I'm absolutely freezing!!!!! Oh well, I'll just keep on thinking of my sweet-heart: Steps..... :o) a nice warm dinner waiting for me at home; my nice, warm, clean pajamas; and the comfort of being in my own home! Yeah..... I'll just keep holding on to those thoughts.

O.k., that's all I've got for now. Adieu!

Until next time,

Wake up..... wake up.... wake up!!!

Well, I'm not waking up because this isn't a dream. I wish it was, but it isn't. Summer (summer vacation anyways) is coming to an end, and the hum-drum routine of school is going to hit full force in two days.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't wanna start college!!!!!!!!!!!!!

O.k....... I've had my little pity party. I'll do my best to stop complaining. :o)

However, as I've thought about classes starting, I've realized that I'm quite fortunate. God has truly blessed my sisters and I. Still Waters has no classes on Fridays, which is great because last semester she had to go to her university every day! Yup, that means Monday-Friday....not fun! Now she won't have to. YAY for her!!! Soaring Amongst the Clouds and I were able to get all of our classes on Tuesday and Thursday. YAY!!! I only have to be there twice a week (minus any extra labs I might need to be there for) but, I'll think about that later. So you see, God can bless us even when we aren't expecting it! :o) That is such a comforting thought!

Well, I don't know what else to say at the moment. So, to keep from endlessly rambling on about silly little nothings, I'll get going. :o) Because I will you know.....ramble on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, yeah. It can get pretty bad. :o) So I will bid you all adieu!

Until next time,
-Daughter of The King.

Entry one..

Tonight Youth-I-Versity started. YAY!!! This has to be one of my most favorite youth events. Every night we get together in the youth building and go to classes, play games, watch movies, and have snacks. The schedule was something like this:

1-First class
2-Snack
3-Class two
4-Game time
5-Movie

Tonight there were 4 different classes. Now, we only get to go to 2 of them so we have to choose carefully. I went to Mr. Geico's class and Mrs. Redhead's class. Mr. Geico taught about anger management. How we have to be careful and control out tempers. Mrs. Redhead (who happens to be our youth minister's daughter) taught how each member of the church is important.

We had ice cream for our snack. You could choose between an ice cream cone, or a waffle bowl. The ice cream choices were: chocolate, vanilla, or chocolate & vanilla & strawberry. There were all sorts of toppings to add! There were gummie bears, cherries, sprinkles, crushed oreos, and hard shell to put on top if desired. I selected an ice cream cone with chocolate ice cream and hershey's hard shell to go on top. It was amazing...... :o)

After that we went to our second class. It was neat because this year The Warrior is moving up to the youth. For the second both my brothers and I were together. We didn't plan it, it just ended up that way. It was a great class, everyone had a good time.

Next was game time. Tonight they had a jump rope contest. Not only was it a jump rope contest, it was a doubles jump rope contest. You had to be in teams of two and be able to jump into the swinging rope and then jump out after 3 synchronized jumps. As the teams moved up, the more jumps they had to make. We started with 3, then 5, 10, 15, and the last one was 20. Two guys ended up winning. The grand prize...... 20 dollars! It was so much fun to participate and watch. Steps and I were on a team. We got all the way to the third round, but once we hit 8 jumps, we somehow lost it and got eliminated. It's all good though, we had a great time!

After the jump rope competition was over we watched a movie that our youth pastor had picked out. It was a bit corny, but it was funny. We watched half tonight and we'll finish the other half tomorrow.

Well, that wraps it up. A fun time was had by all. Adieu!

Until next time,

Well....

Well....I told you I was bad about this blogging thing! I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words. I'll start writing a post then I'll get stuck and not know what to do. I have a ton of saved drafts just waiting to be published..... Oh well, I'll just give you a quick recap on these past couple weeks.

V.B.S ended and I was off to summer camp. I haven't been to one since seventh grade. We went to Bryon College in Tennessee. There were a few mishaps while we were there, (there's always those few kids who do things they aren't supposed to do.) Anyways, a lesson was learned by all, I hope. I cannot speak for the ones who did wrong. O.k., after I got back from camp I had one week to rest, wash my clothes, and pack again for the mission trip.

For this mission trip we went to Elvis' birthplace! It was an amazing experience. I was on a crew with my sweet-heart. :o) That was something I was not expecting. It was a pleasant surprise
though. We were on a crew with other older high schoolers and some older college students. We had a roofing project. There were quite a few holes in the roof that needed to be patched and the chimney needed some work too. We had a great crew though and we were finished before lunch on Thursday morning. Since we were done we got moved to a new work site. They had a more difficult roof and needed some extra help. We were the third crew on the new work site. Imagine, over 20 people working on a roof and painting......it was interesting! It went well and we were finished by 4 p.m. on Friday.

All in all it was a fantastic mission trip. There were 31 projects and they were all completed by Friday. The most important thing however, was the number of people who accepted Christ. There were over 10 people who became Christians. It was an amazing experience, I can't wait for our next mission trip...

Once we got back home I had college calls to make. It was no fun let me tell you what! Those professors are horrible at returning calls and e-mails. In fact, I'm still trying to reach one of them regarding sign language stuff. I went this past Monday to the college I'm attending to get my books. :o) I feel like an official college student now. I've got my books, my backpack, binders, tons of paper, pens, highlighters, pencils, and erasers. I'm ready to start....maybe. ;o)

Oh, G.I. Joe and I also went to a baseball game with our youth group Monday. A fun time was had by all!

This Friday the high school girls Sunday School class is going ice skating. I haven't been ice skating in forever! I can't wait! It's going to be so much fun....

Next week is Youth-I-Versity. Basically is a V.B.S. for middle schoolers and high schoolers. But don't tell them I said that, they'll get offended! Instead of it being during the day, it'll be at night from 7-11, or something like that. I have to check the schedule and make sure.

Well, I think you're all caught up. I'll try to get better at this blogging thing. It may take a while though. Now, I will bid you all adieu!

Until next time,

Epitome of coolness. . . . .

I didn't get a chance to blog about this yet, but this is most definitely blog-worthy!

Monday night, my dad told me that I had something on his bed. I told him I hadn't been in his room, therefore I couldn't have left anything on his bed. Then my mom stepped in and said that she had folded some laundry so I had clothes on her bed. I knew this wasn't true because she had folded clothes, but then she had gone and laid them out on our beds. I kinda figured something was up since they kept trying to get me into their room.

Finally, my mom asked my dad, "Well, if she isn't going to get it, can I keep whatever it is?" He said that she could. So she then told me, "If I get to it first, I get to keep it!" I-of course- didn't want this to happen, so I went to their room and say this laying on their bed. . . . . .

AAAHHH!!!!!! This is AWESOME!

I am soooo excited! Here, the "rule" is that once you start college, you get a lap top. I am really excited!!! I've been so busy with V.B.S that I haven't had a chance to tell you about it.

Anyways, I will now bid you all adieu! I'm going back to church for the service tonight so I have to finish getting ready.

Until next time,
-Daughter of The King

*By the way, I titled this entry the "Epitome of Coolness" because that's what Still Waters called her lap top when she first got it. I thought it was neat and decided to use it here. :o)

V.B.S.

Yesterday was the first day of V.B.S. I can't believe it's already here. I forgot my camera, but I'll be sure to take it with me today. I'm taking care of children from ages 0-3. Well not really zero, but the moms leave them with us as soon as they're comfortable doing so. We have four workers this year, and I think we have around nine children. The youngest we have this year is 5 months old! He is so cute. Well, I need to start getting ready, so I'll bid you all adieu!

Until next time,

Waffles. . .

Well, because it's been a while since my last entry, I've decided to blog about something easy to get me back into the swing of things.

As you might have guessed from the title, this entry is about . . . . . . . Waffles. Yes, that's right, waffles. And they aren't just any kind of waffles- like frozen waffles from your local grocery store- the waffles I'm talking about are homemade. Here, let me give you a little background on the subject . . . .

This past Sunday after we got home from church we somehow got onto the topic of our new George Foreman Grill.

Now, we don't use this because we are healthy-eater fanatics. We use it because it really makes cooking dinner a whole lot faster, and clean-up a whole lot easier. O.k. back to what I was saying, we started talking about our new grill and my dad mentioned that it had removable grilling plates. I then proceeded to ask him what else could you use a grill for? Because logically (or so I thought) the only things you cook on a grill are hamburgers, hot dogs, steak, chicken etc. He told me that this grill came with a few different grilling plates, one set was for making waffles.

What?!?!
.
. .
. . .
. . . .
. . . . .
. . . .
. . .
. .
.
I can make homemade waffles?!?!
.
. .
. . .
. . . .
. . . . .
. . . .
. . .
. .
.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm ashamed to admit that after he mentioned the waffle "grilling" set I forgot the other ones that he mentioned. Anyways, I was extremely excited about this waffle maker. I determined that the as soon as the opportunity arose, I was going to make waffles.

My chance came the very next morning. I woke up on Monday and went straight downstairs to find a recipe from one of our many cook books. I found a very simple recipe in our ever faithful Betty Crocker Cook Book.

I know, it's not a very good picture. But I have difficult time when the person (or thing) that I'm taking a picture of, won't cooperate.

After I decided which recipe to use-Betty Crocker had a few different recipes to choose from-I got to work. In a surprisingly short amount of time I had the batter all mixed and ready to go. I say surprisingly because when I'm in the kitchen nothing ever, and I mean ever goes exactly the way it's supposed to. I was so pleased! "Wow," I said to myself, "Perhaps this time, things will actually go smoothly."

Alas, I spoke too soon. I was just rinsing the soap of the teaspoon I had used when I cam to this horrible realization. . . . I forgot to spray the waffle plates with non-stick cooking spray before putting in the waffle batter! What a mess! I quickly turned the grill off and unplugged it. But it was too late, the first two waffles didn't stand a chance. I threw away the waffles pieces that came out easily and then removed the plates from the grill to wash them more thoroughly in the sink.

After drying the plates and setting them back in place I gave them a generous amount of non-stick cooking spray and then tried again. . . . . . .

This time it worked! I was ecstatic!

I repeated the process of spraying the waffles plates, and pouring waffle batter in 3 more times and they came out quite alright. My poor family, they often suffer the roll of guinea pigs. I'm always trying out new recipes for them to test. I don't think they minded this one as much though.

Well, that concludes the story of my first homemade waffles adventure. I hope you have enjoyed reading it, learned from my mistakes, and I really hope it didn't bore you to death!

Now, I will bid you adieu. . .

Until next time,

How smart......... is your right foot?

I know, the title seems a bit odd. However, I think this little "exercise" is very comical. Especially when you're watching another person attempt to prove that you can, in fact, out-smart your right foot.

Or can you????

Alright, here you go. Follow the directions carefully to see how smart your right foot is....

1. While sitting at your desk, lift your right
foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number "6" in
the air with your right hand.

Your foot will change direction.

I told you so!

And there's nothing you can do about it!

Efficiently Wasting Your Time!

Well, I hope you at least got a laugh out of it. . . .

IF you didn't, let someone else read this while you look on. I'm sure you'll get a laugh then!

Hope the rest of your Wednesday goes well.

Until next time,

-Daughter of The King

First attempt...

Well, I'm not very good at this blogging thing, but I've decided to give it a whirl. Some of you who read this might know me through my mom- Lady G~- I'm her third daughter/child. :o)

Well, I guess a good place to start would be telling you a little about me, (despite the fact that I really don't like talking about myself.) Oh well.... here goes....

I'm the third child of five children. I have two older sisters: Soaring Amongst the Clouds and Still Waters, and two younger brothers: G.I. Joe and The Warrior. I am 18 years old. I completed my school for this year on May 2. Which means, drum roll please.......... I am officially done with high school!!! YEAH!!

Well, not really. Technically I have to wait 'till May 22 to "officially" graduate. But that's o.k. I just keep telling myself, "A few more weeks, a few more weeks, a few more weeks." Soon I'll be able to say, "A few more days, a few more days, a few more days!"

In the fall I'll attend a college that is somewhat close to my house. Really, it is kinda close. On a good day it's only about a 45-50 minute drive. I want to teach American Sign Language. So, at this college, I'll study Foreign Language Education. :o) While it's a little exciting, it still just feels like more school to me.

Well, that's enough about me, and I can't really think of anything else to say at the moment. So for now, I will bid you all adieu. Until next time.....
